2019 Wings over Houston Air Show

Dates: 10/19 and 10/20 This was my 3rd time to go again to the Wings over Houston Air Show which never disappoints with it's variety of aircraft performances. Here I always get to see flight demonstration of aircraft from WWII to today!

I also have some great friends who live in Houston and always let me know use their place to crash. I also spent time at the Johnson Space Center which I was here and that was awesome too!

One thing however that stood out with this year's show was I took advantage of getting photo pit passes for the whole weekend. With that I got access to drinks, lunch and chalet space where I get in the shade when I needed a break from the elements. It was hot which is to be expected when in Houston.

But one amazing thing I had access to was that a local camera shop had a set up in the area where you could actually rent equipment at no charge. Yes they had all your Nikon, Canon, Fuji, Sony, etc. lens and camera bodies you could try out during the show. I was able to try out the Nikon D500 kit which sports a great Auto Focus System and shoots 10 frames per second. It worked with my existing lenses I always bring with my gear. It worked like a charm and got me some amazing results. It paired up nicely along with my D7100 kit I love to use.

Another thing I always like about coming to this air show is the "Goike" connection I have in Texas. The always have the might B-17 Flying Fortress which Grandpa Goike was a gunner on.

I love this photo and the next one because it looks like almost like a painting. I'd put this photo on canvas. Bob Ross might say it needs "Happy Torpedo" <br />

  • My favorite WWII Navy/Marine aircraft - The F4U Corsair! The engine has a distinctive whispering sound it makes. The Japanese called it "whispering death".
  • I use to watch a show called "The Black Sheep Squaudron" which a group of Marine fighter pilots. Great Show!
